August 2022 Review: The Best Movies I Saw Last Month

Originally published September 6, 2022

I really need a new job if it’s going to keep me saying “last month was hard” every month. Thankfully, I had a great time watching some excellent horror films this last month. Between catching up on some films released earlier in the year to experiencing some of the recent releases in theaters, August delivered exceptional films. Another thing to note in this list is the presence of four female directed films! It’s so cool to see horror embracing a variety of female voices in the genre, and hopefully the success of these films (and others) gives Hollywood more reason to invest in seeking out, cultivating, and celebrating female voices and other marginalized voices in film.

Anyway, last month I logged 24 First Time Watches and 1 Re-watch. Here are my favorites!

Re-Watch Highlight: N/A

Unfortunately, I only re-watched one film last month and it is not one I’d like to highlight on this list.
